On Subjectivity

On Subjectivity published on 1 Comment on On Subjectivity

For about three years now, Greg, Billy, and I have had a protracted debate about whether or not Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze is a watchable movie. On the one hand, Greg and Billy believe it’s great, and on the other hand are the people who have taste.Continue reading On Subjectivity

Why I’m a Wrestling Fan

Why I’m a Wrestling Fan published on No Comments on Why I’m a Wrestling Fan

Ok, so I’m going to sidetrack back into the wacky world of wrestling for a moment. Sorry this thing is going to be a bit video heavy, but if you’re interested they are worth checking out. Also a side note, the links in here will be bracketed for your ease. By this point in time almost everyone who is aware of professional wrestling is also aware that it is scripted and predetermined. That’s not to say fake however. While the matches themselves and the storylines surrounding them are planned out in advance that doesn’t stop the actual performers from going out in front of an audience of thousands and actually performing. Yes, the wrestlers know who win before the match starts, but they will still have to go out there and have the match. They still have to go out there and entertain the masses. They have to go out there and convince a room full of people that what they are seeing is real. These performers have to make a room full of people and the world at large believe in and react to the pure madness that they are seeing.Continue reading Why I’m a Wrestling Fan

Scott Talks Wrestling: Okada v. Omega

Scott Talks Wrestling: Okada v. Omega published on No Comments on Scott Talks Wrestling: Okada v. Omega

I finally watched Wrestle Kingdom XI, AKA the Japanese WrestleMania. So, I want to take a second to talk about Kazuchika Okada versus Kenny Omega since we likely won’t get the chance to talk about it on the Title Hunt podcast. It has a lot of cultural implications that really could affect the way that stories are told in the ring. To explain what I mean, I briefly need to talk about a man named Dave Meltzer.Continue reading Scott Talks Wrestling: Okada v. Omega

Oscars 2017: Finding Common Ground

Oscars 2017: Finding Common Ground published on 1 Comment on Oscars 2017: Finding Common Ground

So the Oscars are behind us, and without getting into it properly they were, shall we say divisive. For example, some people believe that La La Land should have swept every category it was in, and other people are wrong.

People are upset over the Best Picture flub and are blaming Warren Beatty, while other people have pointed out that it was very likely the fault of a backstage accountant. Other people are upset that Casey Affleck won Best Actor despite allegedly being a danger to the women he works with. I saw at least one person upset that Lin-Manuel Miranda missed out on his chance at the EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony), and if you honestly believe that Zootopia was better than Kubo and the Two Strings I will fight you.

The point I’m trying to make is that the event was a little polarizing. Continue reading Oscars 2017: Finding Common Ground

Mob Psycho 100 – A Good Time

Mob Psycho 100 – A Good Time published on No Comments on Mob Psycho 100 – A Good Time

I was watching a new YouTube channel a week ago recommended to me by Greg, called Super Eyepatch Wolf. In it, he does really in-depth analysis of different anime. Some of his most popular videos are Why You Should Watch X (X being a favorite anime of his). They are very well though out, and interesting videos ranging from 20min to 50 min long. If you watch one you will probably end up watching the anime he is analyzing, and appreciating it even more because of his video. Finding this channel came at a perfect time because I was looking for a new anime to enjoy. I stumbled across his video on Mob Psycho 100 (MB100) and two days later I had finished the first season. It was a blast!
